Virsig has expereince installing several differnet free-space optical communication devices; these use light propagating, microwave, or millimeterwave technologies, to span open spaces and wirelessly transmit data for telecommunications or computer networking. Free space optics are often used from building to building, or across bodies of water or open roadways, instead of using optical fiber cable or optical transmission lines. The technology is useful where the physical connections are impractical due to high costs or other considerations, such as between hi-rise building, bridges, etc.

For the 2014 & 2015 New York City Marathon, Virsig used both Firetide and Siklu's technology to internet connect lamp polls which passed high-resolution video across New York City. Read more here.

Virsig provided Optex Redwall Laser scan detectors to one of the largest police departments in the United States. It was looking for a strong solution to protect the perimeter of a few stand-alone large buildings, in a semi-urban environment. Virsig used this innovative laser system which results in high-reliability detection of people vs. objects vs. animals, with minimal false alarms. Optex scan detectors offers a wide detection area that functions like an invisible wall, and unlike cameras—Optex sensors work in total darkness. Read more here.
